At AMALY KidsClub, we believe that small voices can make big changes.
This year, children from different cities — and even from different countries — gathered for our Mini-COP30, a playful and meaningful event inspired by the real COP30 happening in Brazil.
Whether your child joined the event or you are discovering it now, here are 7 things every family should know about COP and Mini-COP — explained in a way children can understand.
1️⃣ What Is COP? (Explained for Kids!)
Imagine a huge meeting where almost all the countries in the world come together.
The leaders sit around a big table and talk about one important question:
“How can we protect our planet?”
This meeting is called the COP — the Conference of the Parties.
During the COP, countries:
- share ideas,
- promise to reduce pollution,
- protect forests and oceans,
- and create plans to keep Earth safe for future generations.
It’s a bit like a classroom meeting — but for the whole world!
2️⃣ What Is Mini-COP30? A Kid-Friendly Version of the Real COP
Our Mini-COP30 is a special event created just for kids.
Instead of presidents and ministers, children are the decision-makers!
In this mini version, kids:
- share what they love about the planet,
- talk about problems they see (trash, pollution, water waste…),
- imagine smart solutions,
- and make their own planet-friendly promises.
It’s an opportunity for kids to practice being Earth ambassadors — just like the grown-ups at the real COP30.
3️⃣ Why COP30 Is Special (and Why It Inspired Our Mini-COP)
COP30 is happening in Belém, Brazil, right next to the Amazon rainforest — one of the most important forests in the world.
Its theme focuses on:
- protecting nature,
- caring for forests,
- saving biodiversity,
- and making climate justice a priority.
The Amazon is often called the “lungs of the planet,”
so COP30 reminds us how important nature truly is — for everyone, everywhere.
4️⃣ Countries at the COP Make Promises Every Year
Every country that attends the COP makes commitments to protect the Earth, such as:
- using more renewable energy,
- reducing pollution,
- planting more trees,
- cleaning rivers and oceans,
- and teaching people about sustainability.
These promises are called “climate commitments.”
Countries work on them every year — just like kids working on a school project step by step!
5️⃣ At Mini-COP30, Kids Also Made Their Own Promises!
Just like world leaders, our Mini-COP30 participants made wonderful promises to protect the planet.
Here are examples inspired by children who joined the event:
“I will plant more trees.”
“I will save water at home.”
“I will protect animals and never hurt them.”
“I will stop anyone from cutting a tree for no reason.”
“I will throw my trash in the bin, not on the ground.”
“I will teach my family and friends how to care for the planet.”
These simple actions show how small steps can make a big difference.
6️⃣ Mini-COP Encourages Kids to Think, Speak, and Act
Mini-COP is not only about learning — it’s about empowering kids.
During the event, children practiced:
- speaking with confidence,
- listening to one another,
- sharing ideas,
- and imagining a brighter future.
This helps them grow into thoughtful, caring global citizens.
7️⃣ Small Voices Matter. Small Actions Matter.
COP30 reminds the world that everyone — countries, families, and children — can take part in climate action.
Mini-COP30 shows that kids are not too small to make a difference.
Your voice matters. Your actions matter.
Every time you save water, plant a seed, or pick up a piece of trash, you take care of the planet we all share.
And guess what?
We can’t wait to see you at Mini-COP31 next year!
Together, we’ll keep learning, imagining, and building a greener, kinder world.
